Laser marking machines are widely used in many industries such as electronics, hardware, leather, and advertising. Their parameter settings are crucial to work results and efficiency. The following takes the common CO₂ Laser marking machine as an example to introduce the parameter setting steps and related questions in detail.
Identify the marking material: Different materials (such as metals, plastics, wood, etc.) have different characteristics such as thermal conductivity, melting point, and burning point, and the parameters need to be adjusted accordingly.
Select the marking mode: There are two modes: vector marking (suitable for graphic and text marking) and dot matrix marking (for more detailed marking). Choose as needed.
Adjust the laser power: This is a key parameter that affects the marking effect and efficiency. High power means faster marking, but it may burn or damage the material. It needs to be adjusted to the best according to the material type and thickness.
Adjust the marking speed: It affects the time the laser stays on the material surface, which in turn affects the marking depth and clarity. Faster speed means shallower marking, slower speed means deeper marking, but too slow speed may burn the material, so it should be adjusted appropriately according to the material characteristics and required depth.
Setting frequency: refers to the repetition frequency of laser pulses. A higher frequency means more energy per unit time, but it may cause the material to overheat and be damaged. It should be selected according to the thermal conductivity of the material and the marking effect.
Adjust the filling density: For vector graphics and text, the higher the filling density, the thicker the line; in dot matrix mode, the higher the density, the denser the dots. Adjust according to the required marking effect.
Preview and test: Preview and test after setting the parameters. If the effect is not good, adjust gradually until you are satisfied.
Avoid burning or damaging the material: The key is to reasonably set the laser power, speed and frequency. The power should not be too high, the speed should not be too slow, and the frequency should not be too low. You can also add a protective pad or coating on the surface of the material.
Clean and maintain the marking machine: Regular cleaning can extend the service life and maintain stable performance. When cleaning, first turn off the power and unplug the plug, wipe the lens, reflector and other optical parts with a clean cloth or cotton swab dipped in alcohol or special cleaning agent, use a vacuum cleaner or soft brush to clean the dust and debris inside the machine body, and regularly check and replace worn parts and consumables (such as optical path, nozzle, etc.).
Calibrate the marking machine position: This is the key to ensure accurate marking. You can use special calibration tools or software, first print the calibration pattern and put it on the material, start the program and move the lens to the upper left corner of the pattern, move to the next point as prompted, save the settings after completing the calibration, if the calibration fails or the error is large, contact professional technicians for repair in time.
