Laser marking machines on the market can be roughly divided into three types according to the light source and laser.
Fiber lasers are used to irradiate laser beams onto the surfaces of various materials. When the laser beam is focused on the surface of the workpiece, the light energy is instantly converted into heat energy, causing the surface of the material to melt and vaporize rapidly, causing physical or chemical changes, thus leaving a permanent mark.
The CO2 Laser marking machine uses a gas laser with an infrared wavelength of 10.64μm. CO2 gas is filled into a high-voltage discharge tube to generate a glow discharge, causing the gas molecules to release laser light. When the laser irradiates the surface of non-metallic materials, the material absorbs the laser energy, the temperature rises sharply, and then the material undergoes vaporization, carbonization and other reactions, forming a clear mark.
Using ultraviolet lasers, such as excimer lasers or solid-state ultraviolet lasers, 355nm ultraviolet lasers are used to irradiate the laser beam onto the surface of various materials, and the chemical bonds of the materials are directly broken by the short-wavelength laser, thereby achieving high-precision marking with very little thermal impact on the surface of the material.

UV laser is different from the other two laser technologies. UV laser is low-heat engraving, the surface is cold light engraving, and it is more friendly to some materials that are not affected by heat.

Application areas: CO2 laser marking machine is suitable for most non-metallic materials and some metal products, fiber laser marking machine is suitable for most metal materials and some non-metallic materials, UV laser marking machine is suitable for all plastics and other materials that have adverse reactions to heat.
Fiber laser marking machines are mostly suitable for metal and non-metal materials, CO2 laser marking machines are mostly suitable for wooden materials, and UV laser marking machines are mostly suitable for glass and plastic materials. Fiber laser marking machines are suitable for all materials, and are particularly good at marking metal materials.
